Y Cwsg is taken from Group Listening's latest album Clarinet & Piano - Selected Works: Vol 2. Featuring remixes from fellow PRAH artist Tony Njoku and Clementine March.
The band say: "We love both Tony Njoku and Clementine March's remixes. They're wild! If you listen to all three in a row (our version and the two remixes) it makes for quite the trip. When we recorded our own version of Y Cwsg, one of the things that struck me about the original track was how positive it sounded; it’s both uplifting and dreamy at the same time. We think they have also both highlighted in different ways that there is great melody and a definite optimism of spirit inherent in Malcolm Neon’s original composition."
Tony Njoku: "Was a pleasure to have worked on this. The source material was full of catchy melodic moments and timbrally was very satisfying to me. This made reworking the music so smooth and fun. The clarinet and piano riffs chords were my main source of inspiration and I used an 808 drum machine to program the beat. As soon as the drum sequence and bassline came together I knew I had something special, I hope people enjoy it."
Clementine March: "I thought the best way of paying tribute to Group Listening, one of my favourite music acts at the moment, was to appropriate their Y Cwsg tune, retaining their nearly exact minimal arrangement, but translating it to electric guitar sounds, which is my main instrument."
